KPN International - an extended company with extended services

In 2010, KPN combined KPN International and Infonet Nederland - the two organizations specifically focused on serving international clients.

Infonet Netherlands was the Dutch country representative organization for Infonet - which itself was acquired and integrated into BT Global Services. Maintaining its relationship with BT, Infonet Nederland delivered network services, communication solutions, data center services and service management.

All Infonet Nederland client communications, commercial information and branding are now presented as KPN International. The real story though, is not about branding – it is about how we have taken the best of both companies, and about how we can offer an extended range of services to our clients as a result.

The Starting Position

Before joining forces with Infonet Nederland, KPN International offered its clients a seamless global portfolio of network and IT services. With its own, high-performance, European fiber network and strong global partnerships with selected providers in the Americas and Asia Pacific, the company was excellently positioned to offer international businesses network quality and value at a global level.

Following the merger with Infonet Nederland, a Platinum BT Alliance Partner, we can now offer an even broader portfolio of services.

Some key components of this extended portfolio are summarized here:

Improved Coverage
KPN International customers benefit from interconnects with the Global BT IP network. We offer geographical coverage in 180+ countries, with more than 1,200 available PoPs. This increased coverage creates more options and delivers even better connectivity globally.

Data center Services
In addition to co-location and housing services, KPN International now provides hosting services from its globally distributed data centers. We can also enable data center services on our clients’ premises with our innovative data center in a box approach.

Our high-availability hosting services can run either on virtual servers using VMware or on physical (clustered) servers. Hosting services include installation and delivery of web server components, SQL databases, load-balancing and fail-over configurations.

Smart Reporting
Our well-established KPNCare network monitoring services can now be extended with new smart reporting functions. We offer flow-based traffic analysis with real-time traffic visibility and comparison with historic traffic patterns.

Smart reporting also allows our clients to accurately monitor application performance end-to-end. By installing a dedicated appliance, we are able to rapidly solve network and application performance problems and to mitigate risk.

Together with KPN International, customers can make better decisions when optimizing and improving network service delivery. Smart reporting makes it possible for you to buy the service capacity you need, and to scale it precisely as needs change. This improves the price-performance ratio of the WAN.

Call Center Solutions
We now offer smart routing systems for clients providing or relying on call centers. Our network-based call center management and routing solution is an inbound voice service. It delivers numerous advantages:
• Increasing agent productivity
• Benefit from smart “follow the sun” resourcing, as we switch to support centers in the active time zone
• Balance workloads effectively during peaks
• Establish smart fallback solutions which ensure that support and service are continuous even if, for example, a natural disaster takes one unit offline
• Increased quality of service through smart routing to agents

This solution manages inbound calls. It reduces cost by offering a variety of caller access numbers (PSTN, Free Phone, Universal Free Phone, Shared Tariff and Premium Rate) in local countries.

ENX Automotive network
ENX – or the European Network eXchange - is a private secure business community network for the automotive industry. It offers the community a single managed solution which supports many applications and a wide range of uses.
KPN International is certified by ENX as a provider of Next Generation Network services, meeting their strict security, process and governance requirements.
